Rudolf (Ralph) Stea Ph.D, P.Geo

From 1980 to 2005 I was the senior geologist in charge of surficial mapping and geochemistry with the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources. Since that time I have worked as a consultant in Eastern Canada, the Canadian Shield and the Cordilleran regions of Canada managing and conducting exploration activities for gold, diamonds, base metals, uranium and rare earths. Most of my consulting work has been related to problems of exploration in glaciated terrain, with emphasis on mapping of glacial deposits and landforms and geochemical surveys. My past experience also includes aggregate mapping and economic evaluation of industrial mineral commodites in Nova Scotia, environmental/geotechnical studies of landfill sites, and geo-archeological evaluation of tribal areas for the Confederacy of Mainland Mi'kmaq NS. I am the author of several NI-43101 property reports in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Most recently I have been managing a project to document and assess kaolin deposits in Nova Scotia for Alumina extraction as well as a myriad of other uses.

My technical skills include years of experience using a GIS platform (ARCVIEW) for exploration planning, sampling design, target identification, and geological map preparation, interpretation of satellite imagery, LIDAR and air photos, report writing ability and experience in audiovisual presentation of results to varied audiences. I have also conducted research into land use issues for the Mining Association of Nova Scotia and have familiarity with provincial mining regulations, workplace safety requirements including emergency response planning, hazard analysis, first aid level 1; WHIMIS etc.
